“I don’t care so much about Christmas!” Franz Tost shares unique routine
After 18 years at the helm of AlphaTauri, Franz Tost is stepping back from his role as the Formula 1 team manager, which officially ends on January 1, 2024. Tost usually spends Christmas Day with little time for festivities, starting the day with a 5km run and heading into the office instead of having a traditional turkey lunch. Tost’s 18-year tenure at AlphaTauri saw the team compete in 350 grands prix, with two wins, but he is not happy or proud of the team’s performance as they failed to achieve their goal of finishing fifth in the constructors’ championship. Tost will miss the people and the F1 atmosphere, but he is looking forward to having the freedom to pursue other interests. He has plans in mind, including projects in the area of properties and ideas related to motorsport but not F1. Tost intends to continue watching F1, MotoGP, Indycar, and other races.
